Project Description
When City Center DC, "Washington DC’s Destination for Luxury Expression," was built 10 years ago, the "luxury" even extended down into its 1,500-space underground parking garage with marble sidewalks.
Unforttunately, the curbs, handicapped ramps, and some of the elevator lobby floors were made of concrete instead of marble and the contrast between the dark polished marble and the off-white gritty cement was noticeable and offset the benefit of using marble.

We "eliminated" the concrete by disguising the curbs, handicap ramps, and cement elevator lobby floors as faux marbre that matched its real marble sidewalks.
Our work gave the garage the look of all marble floors and sidewalks at a significantly lower cost than the alternative.

Work in progress
First, the curb's gritty cement surface was filled to make it smooth like marble (1). Next, the smooth surface was marbleized in hues and values that matched the marble (2). Finally, after an overnight dry, a high-gloss clearcoat was applied over the marble finish to protect it and match the sheen of the real marble (3)
